If you plan on driving your Lightning much, I would suggest certing into another weapon(the Python HEAT is the cheapest at 250 certs)and then never touching . My hope is that this guide is able to help newer players become adept at Lightning combat and provide basic tactics everyone can fall back on.

I am leaning to AP lightning. I don't have any gunner buddies. I already bought the AP guns for both tanks with daybreak cash.

I have over 6000 kills with my maxed lightning and i recently switched to viper too, since the nerf it is able to kill groups of infantry faster and much more reliably than HE, i'm still finding HE more useful when fighting infantry at long ranges but that is rare situation still best anti-infantry farming weapon is
If you get sick of Pubbie gunners then the ideal solo vehicle is the Lightning. Get a HE Cannon, Fire Suppression, Stealth and your choice of racer or rival. Farm infantry, avoid enemy tanks, swim in certs. Pick up AP cannon if you're having fun and try tank hunting, though MBT's will still usually kick your ass,
